The city of Las Vegas, Nevada, is known for big magic shows to give players something fun to do for entertainment outside of gambling. Pragmatic Play has incorporated these magical themes and the sin city into its Vegas Magic online slot.

This video slot offers you a setting with multiple magicians, including a man and a woman, with solid graphics and a stage magic theme. The soundtrack fits the concept really well, and the overall visual motif is perfect with the Las Vegas theme with bright lights and references to popular magic acts that have ran from there.

Game Layout

With the feature set found in this title, the format needed to be solid without many bells and whistles. That's what you'll find with 20 fixed paylines that run from left to right across a grid of five reels and three rows. You can adjust how much you're betting by picking up to 10 coins on each payline, for a maximum bet of 200 coins per turn, and you can select those coins to be valued at $0.01 to $0.50 apiece. That lends itself to an overall range of $0.20 to $100 per turn, and we think that's more than plenty for most players.

Wild Substitutions and Expansions

The male magician, throwing a card towards the player, is the wild in this slot. He'll only make an appearance on the second, third and fourth reels. That means that he doesn't get his own winning combinations. However, he makes up for that by expanding if he shows up on an initial spin. This ties in well with the tumble feature, which you'll see below, but note that the wilds only expand if they're found on the initial turn, and they do not expand if they show up later on subsequent re-spins as a part of the tumbles.

Scatter Cash Wins

The glowing, purple dollar sign is scattered for this title. It fits the theme really well because of the gambling aspect of the city this game is set in, but the visual style is perfect because Las Vegas is known for all of their big, flashing lights.

Five of a kind, no matter where they're located on the game board, gives players a solid 500x payout that is the largest single win in this game. You can take down 50x for four of a kind or 5x for three of a kind as well. Note that these do not have to show up on any particular reels or rows to get you paid.

Tumble Feature

If you've seen games with avalanche or Rolling Reels features, then this is very similar. Whenever you get a winning combination, it's paid out normally. The winning symbols disappear to allow new symbols to fall down into place for extra chances to win in what basically amounts to a partial re-spin. However, the mutliplier increases by one each time this happens on a given paid spin. That means getting multiple tumble wins in a row turns the multipliers up incrementally, and there is no limit on how many re-spins you can get or how high the multiplier can go along these lines.

Payouts and Wins

The top regular-paying win is 150x, and it comes from five of a kind combinations of the female magician. Her symbol has a purple glow to it compared to the blue glow of the wild male magician. From there, the wins break up into four tiers, which actually make it fairly easy to keep up with what all of the wins are if you're the type of player who prefers to memorize the pay table.

In the first tier are the tiger and dove symbols. Each of them pay out 12.5x for five of a kind. Next are the top hat with the wand along with the three magic rings, and five of either of those will award you a 7.5x win. From there, you get the blue spade and purple club symbols, each of which are worth 3.75x for five of a kind combinations, and five of the red heart or green diamond get you 2.5x.

Our Thoughts

Pragmatic Play made Vegas Magic into a solid slot by combining a lesser-used theme with graphics and symbols that make a lot of contextual sense. On top of that, the gameplay is fun with different ways to get paid from various features and lots of opportunities to win several times on the same spin.
