With the Peking Luck slot, a game produced by Pragmatic Play, players get a taste of the Chinese opera. You can see from the various masks and tools of the trade on the reels, but you'll also see a beautiful scene in the background with play-like graphics.
Aside from the visual appeal of this title, there is also a fun style of gameplay that centers around giving players different ways to get multipliers for even bigger wins than what the pay table already allows for. Despite the chances to win some pretty huge payouts with these multipliers, especially in the bonus round, the volatility is still at a pretty reasonable level.
Format and Layout
You'll have 25 static paylines in place across five reels and three rows of symbols for this game. That keeps things pretty simply in terms of bet sizing, but it also gives you enough ways to get paid without it being so many that you can't really keep up with what's a line and what isn't.
In terms of your overall betting, you can pick from one to ten coins per line and coins that go from $0.01 to $0.50, so the minimum wager is a very solid $0.25 per turn. With that having been said, we're going to be describing all of the wins in terms of the total bet size. Also, you can simply the betting by using the simple plus and minus buttons on the bottom-left corner of the game screen to cycle through all of the various betting configurations in order of size.
Scatter Payouts
Some of the best wins in the game come from the scattered free spins symbols. Five of a kind can get players a 250x win, which is multiplied by the total bet size. Payouts of 10x for four of a kind, 3x for three of a kind and 1x for two of a kind can also be won. Keep in mind that these symbols can show up anywhere on the game board and do not have to be on consecutive reels to award a win. This means that you're getting more value from them than you probably expect, especially with the lower pays.
Wild Multipliers
The woman in the Chinese opera holding her fan and wearing her headdress is the wild. A 400x prize is yours for five on a payline, and it drops down to 160x for four. Wins of 20x for three and 0.8x for two can also be had here. They substitute for every single symbol in the game other than the scattered free spins symbol, and they double any winning combination that includes at least one of them in it. That means it's the most important symbol in the game.
Free Spins Mode
Three or more of the scattered free spins give you a bonus feature that is probably obvious from the name of the symbols. You'll select from six random objects on the screen to find which number of spins and multiplier you'll receive. You can get multipliers as high as 18x for this feature, which is pretty tremendous. Keep in mind that the wild multiplier also stacks with the multipliers from the free spins mode.
Players can re-trigger the feature by getting at least three of the scatter on the reels at once. This can happen repeatedly, and you'll always add 10 free turns to your total when you do.
Big Wins and Payouts
The top payouts paired with the big multipliers can lead to some pretty serious jackpots. For the non-wilds and non-scatters, however, things start at 30x for five of a kind combinations of the mask symbol. You can earn 20x for the dragon or 16x for the drums for five of a kind as well. Lining up five of the fan is worth 12x, and you can make it 10x for five of the golden medallions.
Card rank symbols make up the rest of the pay table. The red A, orange K and yellow Q symbols all give players 8x, 6x and 5x, respectively, for five of a kind. You can make it 4x for the blue J, purple 10 and green 9 as well.
In Summary
There's nothing in the Peking Luck slot by Pragmatic Play that reinvents the wheel, so to speak. However, the smart use of a fun theme with lots of multipliers and a balanced pay schedule makes this a title that will definitely fit within what a lot of players are looking for in terms of gameplay in particular.
