The thing to know about the Vikings slot by Net Entertainment is that the level of volatility is surprisingly high, and it's easy to be misled by the game's format and basic pay table if you aren't sure of what to look for. Along these lines, this video slot is best for players who enjoy a high hit-rate but who also do not mind a lot of volatility and chances to win tremendously large payouts.

The graphics include plenty of characters from the hit television series by the same name, and the backgrounds are along the same lines. This title looks absolutely amazing, but the gameplay is exceptionally strong as well with a fairly unique approach that we have never seen before.

    Format and Layout

There are two main formats that you'll have in this game, but they both use the "all ways" approach. That means that all regular symbols act as left-to-right scatters, and they'll pay no matter where they land on those reels as long as they go in order from left to right. You start with five reels and three rows for 243 ways to win, but you can end up with more ways to win in the main feature.

The base wager for this title is 20 coins per spin, and you can multiply that by a factor of 10 for up to 200 coins wagered per turn. All wins are multiplied by the total bet size, and you can pick coin sizes that go from $0.01 to $0.50 apiece for an overall betting range of $0.20 to $100 for each turn.

    Raid Spins Symbol

There's a Raid Spins symbol that uses a red and green shield with a blood splash behind it. This game shows up in the third, fourth and fifth reels in the main game only, and they work to activate the Raid Spins feature when you get all three.

During the Raid Spins, the game expands to have seven reels and five rows for a whooping 78,125 ways to win on each turn. You'll be given seven raid spins when you activate the feature with no way to re-trigger.

    Hotspot Feature and Scatter Wins

In the regular game, the middle reels is a three-high hotspot. There are three hotspots of this size in the middle of the grid during the Raid Spins feature. Whenever you get a fully stacked symbol for any of the four viking characters on a hotspot, all payouts are given as usual, and then you will have every one of the other viking symbols on the game board transform into the one that activated the hotspot feature to give you massive scatter spins.

In the base game, the best win available for these scattered pays is 4,860x for 15 of a kind. However, you can earn up to 27 of a kind for an incredible 200,000x top payout, which is the top available win of a number of different six-figure scatter prizes.

    Shield Wall Feature

You can get stacked sets of shields in both game modes that all turn into matching mystery symbols once they're done. Combined with the all ways format, this allows for lots of wins on the same turn.

    Non-scatter Prizes

All of the symbols have non-scatter wins, even the viking ones. The golden V symbol will get you 50x for five of 70x for seven of a kind. You can earn 20x or 28x, along similar lines, for five of seven if any of the matching viking symbols, which always show up stacked in sets of three. They can be red, yellow, blue or purple.

The five card rank symbols include A, K, Q, J and 10, and they all have the same set of payouts, which helps players who like to remember them all. The wins are 10x for five of a kind or 20x for seven of a kind.

The play style for this game includes a ton of action, especially since the viking symbols can turn into scatters with the hotspot features. Overall, this is an incredible game that looks tremendous and that has a super solid style of play that combines innovation with a ton of excitement.
