Today when tattoos are not taboo anymore, we should acknowledge tattooing for what it really is - an art form. For a really long period of time, tattoos were socially unacceptable. Viewed as a residue of barbaric traditions, they were “reserved” for sailors and low-class citizens. The 1960s and the hippie movement changed that and tattooing became a form of self – expression.
