Book Of Gods
SoftwareBig Time Gaming
Players who like mythology will enjoy the Book of Gods slot, available at Big Time Gaming casinos, because of how it uses different gods from Egyptian mythology. However, they don't play into the tropes that you normally see with Egyptian-themed titles, so we don't mind the concept at all. This game centers around feature-based action, and it's all about giving you several ways to get paid on each spin. In turn, you can imagine that the volatility is on the lower end of the spectrum, and the hit-rate is on the higher end as well.
Format and Layout
The basic layout here is pretty standard with five vertical columns and three vertical rows of symbols. The 243-ways format is in play here, which means that all regular symbols behave as if they are scatters that only pay from left to right on the reels. This creates an environment with a lot of small and medium wins and lots of opportunities for multiple payouts on the same spin. Aside from that, you can wager from $0.10 to $40 on each turn, and all of the payouts in this game are based on a multiple of how much you've wagered as a total.
Wild Scattered Golden Scarab Books
The title of the game comes from the golden book with a scarab on the cover, and it's also the wild and a scatter symbol in this game. Five of a kind of this symbol earns you a payout worth 30 times your total bet, but you have to realize that you would also get a lot of other prizes thanks to these wilds on the 243-ways layout, so it's worth quite a bit more than that. Additionally, you can win 10x for four of a kind 5x for three of a kind or 2x for just two of a kind of this wild scatter symbol.
Symbol Cloning Feature
After every spin in this game, you'll get a shot at the symbol cloning feature. What happens is that you're paid regularly for your wins, and then one of the lower end symbols (K, Q, J, 10, or 9) is chosen at random. That symbol will expand to cover every reel, and you are able to get new payouts for that symbol only if there are any. This can turn into quite a bit of value if you get them on the first three reels (or more), so it's basically a free chance after every spin to score some extra prizes.
Free Spins and the Feature Drop Option
Whenever you get at least three of the golden book symbols anywhere on the game board, a set of free spins is triggered. You'll win 15, 20 or 25 free turns for three, four or five of the symbol, respectively. During this mode, the cloning symbols feature will be set by one of the higher god symbols instead, which adds more value.
You can also trigger this feature at any time with the button in the top-right corner of the screen. It'll cost 80 times your total bet to do so. You can also get a FD symbol on the reels that will drop that to 40 times your total wager.
Payouts and Prizes
The four god symbols correspond to four colors. The purple god pays 20x for five, and five of the red god earns 6x. A win of 2.5x is yours for five of a kind combinations of the blue, and it drops slightly to 2.2x when you line up five of the green. All of these symbols pay for two of a kind or more.
For the lower-end symbols, you have six card ranks that pay for three of a kind or more. The purple A gets 2x, and the red K gives players 1.2x for five of a kind. You can earn 1x for five of the blue Q or 0.8x for five of the green J. Finally, the yellow 10 and cyan 9 symbols pay out 0.6x and 0.5x, respectively, for five of a kind.
We like the fact that Big Time Gaming was able to make Book of Gods into an Egyptian-themed game that stands out on its own instead of just following what other titles in the sub-genre have done before. The symbol cloning feature in particular is a lot of fun, and we like how high the hit-rate is in this game. If you're a fan of low-volatility slots with strong features, then this is a title that will most likely appeal to you.
