Classic fruit machines were some of the very first mechanical slots ever invented. There were several spins on these original games that added new symbols, and Playson's Fruitful Siesta slot uses these themes and motifs as the central concept for their game. This is largely from a visual perspective only, however, since the gameplay itself is much more modern with features and a format that are closer to what's popular in the present day. If you like strong gameplay with different features that you've probably never seen before, this is a game that you'll get a lot out of.
Players will have 10 paylines in this game that are laid across a five-reel, three-row format. While 10 paylines aren't a lot compared to what's trendy in today's online slot marketplace, the limited number of ways to win on each spin is actually important to how the bonus feature works. In terms of betting, you can wager between $0.20 and $100 on each spin, and you'll divide those numbers by 10 to get how much is being wagered on each individual payline. There are plenty of sizes to choose from, and it's easy to pick out exactly which one you want with their clear, simple controls.
The Wild Flip Feature
The main feature that drives this game actually ties in all elements of the slot itself, so it's a little difficult to describe without actually seeing it in action. All of the regular-paying symbols in this game are broken up into four different groups. Each of those groups have either two or three symbols in them in addition to a special group symbol. The group symbols do not appear on the reels normally during spins, and they only appear during the Wild Flip Feature. Each symbol in a group, including the group symbol itself, will have the same payouts for three, four or five of a kind.
If you get the flippy wild symbol on the reels, then the flip feature is activated. The wild will stay in place wherever it landed, and all of the rest of the symbols will flip over. What they flip over to is determined by their respective group symbol. The end result is that instead of having up to ten different paying symbols on the reels, there are only four, and this makes it much easier to hit winning combinations.
There are three levels to the feature. You can get new flippy wild symbols to flip over and over up to a total of three times.
Symbol Groups and Payouts
The first symbol group consists of two regular symbols and a group symbol that all have purple background. The golden seven and the golden bell are both regular symbols, and the diamond is the group symbol for this set. These are the top symbols in the game, and they pay 200x for five of a kind.
The next-highest group has a watermelon and a cherry as their regular symbols. A gold bar is the group symbol, and these three all pay 20x for five on a payline.
Next, you have a group that consists of three more fruit symbols. The berries, the orange and the lemon all pay 12.50x as regular symbols. The group symbol for this set of a pile of gold coins.
At the bottom of the pay table are three symbols with stars on them that have blue and green colors. The one-star, two-star and three-star symbols each pay 7.50x for five, and the group symbol for this bunch is a silver coin.
Aside from the top symbols with their purple backgrounds, the rest of the symbols have borders around them that are different colors. The "hotter" the color, the higher the ranking and payouts, and paying attention to the borders is a good way to remember which symbols are in groups with each other.
Fruitful Siesta has a great concept with everything being based around the flip feature. This is a feature we can't remember having ever seen before, and it's an innovative approach by Rival Gaming that gives players a different style of gameplay than they normally get. It also adds a ton of action to the reels, and it makes the structure of the pay table much more meaningful. While this game does not have the best graphics in the world, they are aesthetically pleasing for what they are, and this is a slot that's based more on gameplay than anything else.
