Released in 2013, Troll Hunters still remains one of Play’n GO’s biggest hits.

Not surprisingly, they decided to release a sequel to this game in Troll Hunters 2. and though not a lot has changed from the original...

...the new version does feature upgrades in a few areas.

Theme & Design

Play’n GO software provider once again takes you back into Norse mythology. 

Graphically, things have improved from the original, not drastically, but they are better. 

The symbols are all nicely drawn, and the action takes place against a heroic mountainous backdrop that looks really cold. 

The music is great too, as...

...powerful fantasy soundtrack pumps from the speakers causing excitement to rise along with excitement levels.

...focuses on three female Viking warriors and their efforts to kill evil trolls.

Troll Hunters 2 features the same story and atmosphere.

The reels of this action-packed title are stacked with Viking warriors set out to defeat the mighty troll, a set of ear-rings, beer mugs, and a joint of meat to feed the hungry warriors after a day’s battle. 

The golden Rune symbol is a Wild and substitutes for all symbols. 

Each warrior will appear periodically on the right-hand side of the reels.

Special Features

One aspect of play that Troll Hunter 2 has fortunately kept is its game mechanic.

The game is played on a 5x5 grid that falls and stacks rather than spins. 

When a win lands, it vanishes off the screen, and the tiles fall, which can cause more winners to fall into place. 

Consecutive wins from one spin are treated to a multiplier that rises by x1 each time. 

When three of a kind land, the middle tile stays on the grid but turns wild and...

...can substitute for any of the pay symbols.

When warrior symbols form winners they start to fill up the Shield Meter. 

When it gets full, it sends x2 and x3 symbols randomly onto the board for the cascade to continue.

Lurking behind the symbols, moving up and down is the word BONUS. 

If wins and falling symbols fully reveal this word, then the bonus game is launched, and the players can choose:

• 9 free spins + regular 2x2 troll wilds.
• 7 free spins + x2 multiplier 2x2 troll wilds.

So Play’n Go has had enough time to put their thinking caps on and dazzle us with a sequel.

The results are this game that is almost exactly the same as the first, but...

...now comes with more challenging volatility, better graphics and increased rewards.

If you are already a Troll Hunters fan, or a follower of fantasy, adventure, or Vikings, then you will probably enjoy Troll Hunters 2.

As a standalone game, it is a respectable slot indeed, with a good vibe, a decent RTP and extras that come together well.
