Games that have a bit different format than what you normally see sometimes just do it for cheap attention. The Snowfall Queen slot, available at Skywind casinos, uses a different style of layout as an important part of the gameplay, which makes it a more complete experience for players. The graphics aren't the best (though they aren't terrible by any means), but it's really the gameplay that you'll focus on when you play this title. The volatility is a bit on the low side while still giving players opportunities to run up some fairly significant wins, which gives you the best of both worlds.

A Different Type of Format

Your initial look at this game will show you a lot of what you need to know about the game being a little different. There are five reels, which is normal enough. However, you'll see that there are four rows on the first and last reels with five rows on the second, third and fourth. A total of 40 paylines pay from left to right across these reels, and as you'll see down below, these extra-large reels in the center of the game are a part of how features work in this game.

Aside from this, they have made the betting pretty straightforward and simple to use. You'll just pick from a total bet size with simple dials that give you total amounts that go from $0.40 on the low side to $320 per spin on the upper end. It'll show the appropriate coin size beside of it for reference as well since most of the wins are based on multiples of your line bet wins.

Wild Symbols and Re-spins

The Snowfall Queen herself is the wild symbol. She appears on the middle three reels only. She always shows up stacked five symbols high, but she doesn't give you wins on her own because she doesn't appear on the first or last reels. Instead, she makes it much easier to get multi-line pays on the same spin. She's also responsible for an important bonus feature.

If one of these stacked wilds covers the entire reel on any of the second, third or fourth reels, then you'll get paid for that spin normally. Afterwards, any wild reels will hold in place while the other reels spin twice to give you two free chances to get extra payouts.

Magic Wheels Bonus Feature

The scattered diamonds appear on the middle three reels as well, and more than one can appear on each reel at the same time. Get at least three for a shot at the Magic Wheels Bonus. This essentially comes down to a pick-a-box style of game where red and blue diamonds give you payouts and yellow diamonds give you a multiplier on those payouts. You just pick until you're out of picks (based on how many diamonds you used to trigger the feature), and then you're given your reward. It's fun and ties into the theme of the game, but it doesn't stand out as being particularly original.

Prizes and Payouts

The bear and wolf symbols are the top two in the game, and they're also the only two that pay for just two of a kind or more. Five of a kind of the bear will pay out 800x, and you can earn 600x for five of the wolf. It drops down to 400x for five of the fox on a payline, and five-of-a-kind combinations of the owls get you 200x. You'll notice that the payouts step down pretty reasonably to help provide a lot of balance to the pay table.

Moving down a bit, you'll be able to pick up 120x for five of the purple A or yellow K symbols. The green Q, cyan J or blue 10 symbols all give you 80x for five as well.

Overview

Everything about this game is centered around the format that gives you three extra-large reels across the center. Along these lines, the Snowfall Queen slot is largely based around the bonus features. However, the regular pay table is pretty good as well, especially when you consider that the wilds show up stacked five high across the middle of the game. This is the type of slot that has a somewhat reasonable level of graphics but where the main focus is actually on how it plays. That's not everyone's cup of tea, but that's how it's designed, and the players who like that approach the most are going to be the ones who enjoy this game the most.
