There have been many instances where a slot really just stands out from the rest in terms of out-of-the-box thinking, and we think that the Kickoff slot, available at Wazdan casinos, fits that description. The style of gameplay is somewhat like a classic title, but you're actually rewarded for playing over the long run because of the way the bonus matrix system is set up. You have to really play it to get a feel for it because it's not like anything else you've most likely played since it has some elements of other games like keno mixed in as well.
Format and Layout
There are really two key parts to the game that have their own layouts. The main part of the game that you'll be dealing with a majority of the time is a single-payline game with three reels. It plays a lot like a basic, classic slot in this regard. Betting starts at 10 coins, which is what we're going to assume players are using when describing payouts below. Those coins can be set to be worth as little as $0.01 each and as much as $100 apiece. Along these lines, the minimum bet size is $0.10 per turn, and the maximum will depend on which casino you're playing with because the game itself is hard-coded to be able to handle wager sizes in the thousands, but virtually no casino is going to support that without a special arrangement of some sort.
Wild Ball Symbol
The wild symbol in this game is the ball with several different colors on it. It works a little differently than the wilds in other games because it doesn't substitute for every single other paying symbol in the game. The one it doesn't substitute for is the golden ball, and that's because the golden ball acts as a sort of bonus symbols as well, which we'll get into down below. The wilds don't get their own payouts either, so three of a kind will pay out 800x, the same as the number seven, dark-green ball.
The Bonus Matrix
Whenever you get a golden ball anywhere on the line, it'll reflect in the bonus matrix shown on the top-right corner by falling down from the top to the first place not already taken up by a golden ball. If you get horizontal or vertical lines of golden balls, then they clear away and give you bonus payouts. A horizontal row pays out up to 40x, and a vertical row pays out up to 200x. This is a fun way to add extra payouts to the game, and it's something that incorporates the theme of the game in a way that most players wouldn't have anticipated.
Golden Ball Payouts
The golden balls are important for another reason, and that's because they help you to get the jackpot payout in this game. It comes in the form of a 2,000x prize for three of a kind. However, there's more value to it than that because of the bonus matrix. You'll also be guaranteed at least one horizontal line payout due to three golden balls dropping down in the grid, and that means another payout added on to the already large jackpot amount.
Other Payouts
The seven regular-paying symbols are represented in two ways. There are escalating numbers on the balls, and the higher the number, the better the payout. Additionally, the colors of the balls are lighter for the lower payouts and darker for the higher payouts.
The one, two and three balls get you 20x, 40x and 60x for three of a kind. You can also pick up 100x or 200x for three of the four or five balls. Finally, the six and seven balls pay out 400x and 800x, respectively. These are some balanced wins that work out pretty well.
Our Thoughts
We are typically fairly harsh on single-payline slots because we don't think that there's much room in the industry for them these days with all of the advances that have been made. We have to dial that back a bit for Wazdan's Kickoff slot because they've done some things with it that we haven't seen before, and we like the style of gameplay that it creates. The pay table is balanced enough to be interesting without feeling like you're just playing forever without winning, and the bonus matrix concept is pretty unique and adds an element of replay value. If you're the type of player who doesn't care so much about a lot of bells and whistles, then this may be a game that you enjoy.
