Red Tiger Gaming has a lot of titles with a lot of different themes, but whenever they make one with a fairly common concept, they always differentiate it in a way that makes it really stand out. That's very much what they have done with the Mayan Gods video slot.

They achieved this by setting the gameplay up to be based around a sizable variety of features. In addition to that, the game has a lot of action, and it's easy on the eyes as well with particularly solid graphics and visual appeal.

Format and Betting

On the surface, this is a game with a very straightforward layout. There are five reels with three horizontal rows of symbols. Instead of having symbols spin on reels, three symbols just drop in from above on stone blocks. Betting is centered around having $0.20 to $10 wagered per spin, and that's because there are 20 static paylines locked in place that cannot be changed. Wins go from left to right only.

Chain Reaction Feature

A key aspect of gameplay in this title is the chain reaction feature. Whenever you get a winning combination, it's paid out normally. Following that, the multiplier on the right-hand side of the screen increases by one over the totem, all of the winning symbols fall out of the grid, and new symbols fall down into place to give you more chances to win.

If you pick up another win, the process continues over and over again, and you can actually end up with some pretty serious multipliers and resulting payouts because it just keeps getting bigger. This feature stops whenever you have a set of symbols that fall in that do not give you a new win.

Mayan King Wild

The Mayan King can show up as a 2x2 wild in this game. It also helps to add other random wilds to the reels. This clearly translates into lots of extra ways to get paid and plenty of payouts that you would have missed without the help of these wild symbols.

The Mayan Eclipse

With the eclipse symbol, you'll see that it covers a 2x2 spot on the reels like the king symbol does. However, it picks random symbols on the reels and then turns itself and those symbols all into matching, high-level symbols to give you increased chances at winning combinations. Combine this with a wild, and you'll almost certainly pick up payouts on several lines at the same time.

Mayan UFO Feature

One of the cooler features from the set is the UFO Feature. The way this feature works is that you have a random chance for a UFO to show up and hover over the reels. It'll pick out some of the low-end symbols and replace them with symbols that pay out higher, and that helps to give you more value with better payouts than you would otherwise get on average.

Shaman Feature

If you pick up a Shaman symbol on the reels, it will destroy all of the symbols on the reels, increase the multiplier and give you a fresh set of symbols for a re-spin as a part of the Chain Reaction feature.

Payouts and Prizes

The golden symbol with a red gem in the middle is the highest-paying symbol with 500x for five of a kind, which is the same win for five of the wild. It's also the only symbol that pays for just two on a payline. You can win 72x for five of the fire bird, 56x for the triangle with a green gem in the center or 40x for five of the green and yellow swirl.

Five symbols in simplier designs that include symbols for each of the five old elements give payouts ranging from 24x to 8x for five of a kind combinations.

In Summary

The Mayan Gods video slot is a feature-filled title that offers a style of play with a lot of chances for multiple wins on the same spin. The volatility is pretty low, but you can still get some pretty solid payouts with the multipliers and other goodies.
