The Blaze of Ra is a video slot available at Push Gaming casinos, and it centers around the Egyptian god Ra and an overall Egyptian theme. By focusing on a single deity, this game stands out from the several others in the Egyptian sub-genre, and that's something that's very important whenever you have a title informed by such a popular concept for online slots. The graphics are a little above average but aren't excellent, and it's really the gameplay that players are going to look forward to in this particular title.

Format and Layout

More real estate space than what's typically available in video slots can be found in this game since there are five reel, four rows and 40 paylines. This extra space is important for the features, as you'll see below. Instead of over-complicating the bet size selection, Push Gaming has made it so that there are 12 total bet sizes to pick from on a simple selection screen that makes it as clear as possible what your options are. Those sizes range from $0.20 to $100 per spin, which is important to note because the minimum is half of what you'd typically expect it to be for a 40-payline game. They navigate this with the prizes by listing all of the wins as multiples of the total amount that you are wagering.

Ra Wild Symbols

The Ra symbol is the bird god that you see to the left-hand side of the reels during gameplay. It's also the wild, and he shows up on a red background as this wild symbol. Five of a kind of this symbol earns you 50x, and four of a kind pays out 12.5x. You can also pick up 2.5x for just three of a kind provided that you couldn't win more if those three symbols were used to make a four-of-a-kind or five-of-a-kind combination with a larger payout.

Nudging Wilds Bonus Feature

Whenever you get a wild Ra symbol in one of the top two spots of a reel, you'll have a chance to activate the Nudging Wilds feature. The way this feature works is that the reel will be nudged downward two spots to allow more wild symbols to enter the reels. You can end up with full reels of wilds with this feature, which is pretty awesome considering there are 40 paylines.

Free Spins Mode

The free spins bonus round here is a bit different than what you've probably seen anywhere before. Three of more of the scarabs triggers the free spins. Each scarab will randomly give you one or two free turns, so you can have as few as three total and as many as ten total. This might not seem like many free spins, but there's a catch: The first, third and fifth reels are completely wild for all of the feature. It's pretty easy to see that you'll rack up a tremendous amount of wins during this feature regardless of the symbols that appear since you're guaranteed a lot of three-of-a-kind wins at the very least with easy chances for five-of-a-kind combinations as well.

Payouts and Winning Combinations

The cat gets you 20x for five, and five of the jackal earns a 15x prize. The ankh, which looks like a cross with a loop on it, pays out 10x to players. The other golden symbol with the cane and whip will get you 7.5x, and a 5x payout is yours for five of the eye of Horus. The purple lotus is also going to get you 2.5x.

The bottom portion of the pay table has four card rank symbols. Both the A and K symbols can earn 1.25x for five of a kind. Five of the Q or J, however, gets you a simple 1.00x prize.

Overview

With any game in the slots world that uses an Egyptian theme, you're going to get a mixed reaction to some degree from players simply because of the nature of the concept and how many titles use it. In the Blaze of Ra slot, things are saved a bit by the focus on one particular deity by Push Gaming. With that having been said, it's the gameplay that gets the most credit here because this game has a mix of features that we can't recall seeing anywhere else at any point in time, so it's the kind of thing that we expect players to enjoy on that basis.
