Several decades before online slots were ever invented, the original fruit machines were born. These were three-reel, mechanical slots in the classic style with fruit symbols on them, and the point of the fruit symbols was that prizes for these games were given as gum in the flavor of the fruit that made up the winning combination. Fruits Gone Wild is a StakeLogic slot that gives players a bit of a play on words with a fruit machine in a video slot format that gives players exciting gameplay with strong graphics and a lot of wild-based features.
Game Layout
The layout of this game has 20 paylines, and these are spread across five reels and three rows. There are two options for controlling your betting. On the one hand, you can bet up to five coins on each of the 20 paylines, so your overall betting options are for 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100 coins. From there, you can also change the values of the coins themselves, and this gives you options for coins that go from $0.01 to $0.50 apiece. As a result, the overall betting range runs from $0.20 to $50 per spin. No matter what stakes you prefer, you'll have a bet size that you're comfortable with in this game.
Getting Wild
As you can tell by the name of this game, wild symbols are a pretty important part of the overall gameplay. There are three distinct aspects of the wilds that you need to know about. The first is that they give really good payouts on their own. Five of a kind pays 1,000x, the largest regular win in the game as a whole. You can also win 250x for four of a kind or 100x for a three-of-a-kind combination, so even the lower pays are solid for this symbol.
The second thing to know is that every single spin you make has a random wild feature attached to it. On all spins, between zero and three wilds will randomly hit the reels. Not only does this increase your chances of hitting longer winning combinations, but it also increases the chances of hitting multi-line wins that consist of small and medium payouts, which can add up in a hurry.
The third aspect of the wilds that is important is that they can expand at random. This isn't a typical expansion that goes vertically to cover a reel, however. Instead, they will expand to cover a 2x2 grid consisting of four different spots on the board. Again, this increases your chances for longer winning combinations substantially, but just as important is the effect it has on hitting multiple, smaller prizes.
Free Spins and Bonus Symbols
There's an innovative approach used for the free spins, and we really like what StakeLogic has done with them. First and foremost, there are bonus symbols that appear on the first, third and fifth reels only. When you get all three on the reels at one time, you get a set of five free spins. However, there's more to it than that.
This game has what's called a "Free Spins Bin," and it allows you to accumulate extra free spins that will be added to your total when you trigger the bonus round by getting all three bonus symbols on the screen at once. To add a free spin to the bin, you have to get exactly two bonus symbols on the reels at once. When that happens, a free spin is added to the bin. You can have up to 20 free spins in this bin for a total of up to 25 free turns for the feature itself.
Winning Combinations
Five of the star gets you 1,000x, the same as the wild symbol. The bar symbol is worth 200x for five, and the lucky seven gets you 200x for five of a kind. The wins for five of the bell or the grapes are 150x and 80x, respectively. From there, the payouts drop off a bit to 60x for five of the plums and 40x for five of a kind in oranges. At the bottom of the pay table are the limes and cherries, each of which get you 20x for a five-of-a-kind combination.
Overview
Fruits Gone Wild is a great gameplay-centric title by StakeLogic that gives players a tremendous level of action thanks to the focus on the bonus features. The fact that most of these features hit often keeps you engaged as you play, and you won't find yourself getting bored as you wait for more wilds to hit the reels or expand to give you opportunities for major payouts.
