Arrow's Edge is not known for putting out the most visually appealing games out there, but the gameplay of their titles usually isn't bad. This is pretty much the case with the Drab to Fab video slot. It has a theme based around a couple renovating a house, and it has a couple of cool features that offer extra value. Overall, this isn't a bad video slot in and of itself, but the lack of anything close to great graphics means that you have to rely completely on the gameplay to have fun with this title.
Game Format
This game uses a format with five reels, three rows and 25 paylines. The game is set up to use a variety of bet sizes per spin. You can pick coin sizes ranging from $0.01 to $10 apiece, so you get a betting range of $0.25 to $250 per spin. Clearly, this is a large enough range for anyone at any level of stakes. An autospin feature is available in this game for players who want a bit more of a hands-off experience, and it's worth mentioning that the spin button is off to the right-hand side of the reels, which is atypical and tricky to figure out at first.
Expanding Wild Symbol
The new house is the wild symbol in this game. However, it only shows up in the middle three reels. While this takes away from the value of the slot, Arrow's Edge has compensated for this by turning it into an expanding wild. This makes it much easier to hit multi-line wins that you wouldn't have picked up otherwise, especially if you're lucky enough to get more than one of them on the reels at the same time.
High-Paying Symbols
The man, woman and carpenter are the three main paying symbols in this game. The man is responsible for the top jackpot in the game, and that's 5,000x for five of a kind. There are two ways to win 1,000x as well. You can do it with four of the man or five of the woman. Five of the carpenter picks up a solid 500x prize, and four of the woman gets you 200x. These are some pretty solid top-end payouts, and the top-heavy nature of them contribute to the overall volatility of this online slot.
It's worth pointing out that the man and woman symbols pay for two of a kind or more. All other symbols (except for the scatter) require at least three of a kind for a payout.
Low-End Symbols
Like many slots today, this game uses A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 symbols for its lowest payouts. The A or K will give you 250x for five of a kind, and you can also get 150x for five of a Q or J. Even the 10 and 9 pay 100x for five of a kind, so the payouts don't just drop down into oblivion like they do in some games just because you're dealing with low-end symbols.
Scatters and Free Spins
The tool belt symbol is scattered in this game, and it pays left to right only. Five gets you 100 times your total bet, which is the same as a 2,500x line bet win, making this the second-highest payout in the game. However, three or more launches you into a free spins feature where you can get even more value.
The free spins bonus round gives you 12 free turns. However, if you make a winning combination with a wild symbol, then that combination is hit with a whooping 5x multiplier. These free spins can be re-triggered, and it's a pretty significant boost to the value of these turns with the wild made into a 5x multiplier for wins.
Overview
The Drab to Fab online slot gives players a lot of ways to win, and its strength is definitely in the gameplay. However, the graphics leave a lot to be desired, and they would honestly look a bit dated even ten years ago. Arrow's Edge would do well for themselves to drastically change how they're approaching the graphical side of things because the gameplay and pay distributions of games like this one are definitely on point. Overall, this is a solid game if you don't mind the graphics, and there are a lot of ways to win significant payouts.
