Blue Beard's Gold is a video slot powered by Arrow's Edge. It has above-average graphics with a relatively in-depth pirate theme. One of the main features of this game is a random progressive jackpot that can be triggered on any real money spin. It typically hovers in the low five-figures, and it offers a sizable top payout along these lines. If you're a pirate fan, or if you like solid slots with balanced pay tables, then this is a game you can probably get behind.
Basic Layout
The format in this game is a familiar one. It uses five reels, three rows and 25 paylines to give players a 5x3 set of symbols at any given time. The paylines all pay left-to-right only. Your betting options are based on choosing the total bet size per spin, and that runs from $0.25 to $250. This correponds to the equivalent of coins ranging from $0.01 to $10 apiece, and this leads to a pretty wide betting range that will be sufficient for virtually all players. The background of this game is a fairly basic pirate theme, and you'll see a lass with a pistol off to the side watching you take your shot at picking up some loot.
Wild Symbols and Major Payouts
The top jackpot in this game is a whooping 10,000x. You get this by picking up five of the scattered treasure chest symbols. The second-largest win is for five of Blue Beard himself for 1,250x, and another 1,000x win is available for four of the wild. The redheaded lass who stands by the side of the reels also shows up on the reels, and she gives 500x for five of a kind. The same 500x payout is available for five of the rum bottles.
It's important to point out that, like many Arrow's Edge slots, this game has multiple payouts that only require two symbols. Blue Beard, the lass and the rum bottles all fit this description. Something that's pretty interesting is that a single wild on its own also gives you a 2x payout, and two gives you a 10x win. This is one of the only games we've seen where there is a winning combination that consists of just one symbol.
Minor Payouts
The minor wins all center around the A, K, Q, J and 10 cards. The A pays 150x for five of a kind, and the K and Q will give you 125x for five. You can also pick up 100x for five of the J or 10 symbols.
All five of these symbols are presented as the top halves of the playing cards the symbols were gotten from. The ace is a pink parrot wearing a pirate's hat that's pretty clever, and the tens show a pair of pistols.
Free Spins Bonus Feature and Scatters
The treasure map is the scatter in this game, and you can get wins based on a multiple of your overall bet with this symbol. It's a left-to-right scatter as well, and you can pick up 100 times your total bet for five or 20 times your total bet for four. This corresponds to equivalent line bets of 2,500x and 500x, which are pretty significant payouts.
Three or more scatters arranged on the reels from left to right will give you a set of free spins. Players will earn 12 free spins with a 3x multipliers on all wins, and they can be re-triggered repeatedly.
Pick and Win Feature
If you get the wild treasure chest on the first and last reels at the same time, then you get to pick from different symbols to get a random payout. You can pick up as much as 100 times your total bet, and that's like a 2,500x line bet win. Obviously, having an extra payout that can be as high as this on the reels is going to be a big hit with players.
Overview
This game has a lot to offer players, and it's probably one of Arrow's Edge's best titles. It has decent enough graphics, though they couldn't really compete against the big dogs in the industry, and the pay table is pretty varied with a lot of opportunities for small, medium and large wins. Overall, this is a game that slot fans will really get a lot out of because it has a fair amount of depth with multiple features and an interesting pay table.
