Ibiza has been one of the favorite party spots in Europe for decades. Offering thrilling fun and beach parties likes of which…
…are rarely seen elsewhere, many are attracted to this island off the coast of Spain. Ibiza by Arrow’s Edge is a slot that tried to capture that atmosphere and bring the party to your screen.
With that said, the creative team behind this release took a slightly different approach compared to what you’d usually expect.
A Retro Theme That Works
Retro themed games are often times hit or miss at best. Arrow’s Edge took a swing and so far it looks like a hit. Ibiza isn’t one of those slot games that tries too hard to look retro. You’ll notice a neon color theme that dominates both the reels and the background skies.
In a way, it’s reminiscent of those old video games designed when screens could only handle so many colors.
With that said, everything looks pretty detailed so don’t expect the pixelated graphics that often came with the aforementioned retro games.
Symbol Design
This slot game is one of the rare titles where your run of the mill card royal symbols look great. The main reason for this is the fact that they too…
…sport those retro neon colors, thus completing the overall theme quite well. As for the higher paid tier of symbols, it’s packed with all kinds of designs related to the party life in Ibiza.
There are ice buckets with champagne, yachts and more. Special symbols include the Wild that comes in two shapes – a portrait of a guy and a girl.
Betting Options and Functions
If you thought the theme is the only thing that stands out about this title, you’ve been sorely mistaken. Arrow’s Edge has included a very interesting option that…
…you won’t often see elsewhere. The game starts out as a 5x3 slot that runs on 12 paylines. However, players have the option…
…of turning it into a 3x3 slot that runs on 3 paylines. That alone is pretty impressive as it instantly turns this release into a classic one-armed bandit game.
The UI design is intuitive but maybe a tad too basic. All of the buttons feature that neon gradient that goes from bright blue to purple, but with no outlines at all.
Overall, you’ll easily find what you’re looking for.
Special Features
Since the game has two distinct game modes, it comes with two different sets of special features. If you decide to go with the full game, you’re looking at the Expanding Wild Feature and the Vertical Expanding Wild.
In the first feature, when the party guy wild appears on the reels, it expands. After the mode is over, players are awarded 6 bonus spins.
In the Vertical Expanding Wild mode, if a party girl wild lands on the reels, it will also expand but vertically. Again, after the feature is done, you’ll get 6 bonus spins.
Both the Expanding Wild and the Vertical Expanding Wild feature change the game into the 3x3 mode once completed, giving you additional 3 bonus spins and a fixed x4 multiplier to boot.
In the 3x3 mode, you’re getting the Bonus Round feature triggered by 2 party girl wilds landing on the reels. Once triggered, two discs appear, each offering different prizes, and you’re prompted to pick one.
The other feature is the bonus spin mode that comes right after the Bonus Round. This works great on top of the max coin jackpot range of 750 that can be won in the base game.
Our Take
Overall, Ibiza is a great game that allows the player to customize their gaming experience. Not many games allow you to do that. Additionally, Arrow’s Edge included a number of interesting features as well. Overall, it’s a solid game that stands out in the sea of clones.
