Bodog Gets First License Under New U.K. Requirements
The U.K. government announced yesterday that overseas bookmakers offering online gaming in the UK will need a license from the Gambling Commission, currently licenses obtained in certain jurisdictions were treated as if they were licensed in Britain. According to John Penrose, the minister responsible for gambling policy, the regulations would be based on the “point of consumption rather than production”. -

American Gaming Association (AGA) to Propose Online Poker Bill
The American Gaming Association (AGA) publically showed a cool response to Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) federal online poker bill last week. In an address last week AGA chief Frank Fahrenkopf said his group was “not opposing [Barton’s bill], but we are not supporting it.” He said the AGA would throw its entire wait into a mystery bill.Fahrenkopf then said this mystery bill would differ from Barton’s proposal mainly in the way states are involved. -

Betfair Complains to EU About Germany's Gambling Treaty
A draft over Germany’s gambling rules, which is still being considered by German authorities has Betfair Group Plc, a British online gambling site, already calling foul. According to Betfair, the draft will force it to pay over 16% on all stakes and it will also restrict licenses for private betting companies to seven. According to Betfair these new rules would be “discriminatory and protectionist.” Betfair complained to the European Union this week over this draft proposal. -
