The Charms and Clovers online slot is another game along those same lines, and it also has an atypical format. They've done an excellent job with making sure that this change in layout is meaningful instead of just being done for the sake of being different and getting attention, which is more than we can say for a lot of the competition. Overall, this is a feature-packed game with a reasonably high hit-rate that should appeal to a wide range of players, even though it does have a somewhat common Irish/leprechaun theme.

Online Slot Format

The format is really important to discuss with this game because it has some key differences from most online slots with five or six reels. There are six reels, and the last one is separated from the others to make it stand out. There are four rows as well and 40 paylines across the usual 5x4 layout, something we see often.

Betting in this game can be controlled in two ways. The first is through the number of coins, and you can select between one and five per payline. However, you also have coin options ranging from $0.02 to $1, so betting starts at $0.80 per turn and goes up very far into the high stakes range.

The Golden Bonus is a pick-a-box type game based on choosing from pots of gold, and the Pots of Gold feature adds extra wilds to the reels during a set of free spins. Each of these features gives players a lot of additional value in different ways, and it's fun to see BetSoft mix things up with so many different types of features.

Wild Symbols and Top Pays

The wild symbol is the top-paying symbol in the regular game. You can earn 10,000x for six of a kind in this symbol. Additionally, because it shows up on the sixth reel as well, it can make it much easier to extend a five-of-a-kind payout into six of a kind. The leprechaun symbol pays 5,000x for six of a kind too, and you can also earn 2,000x for six of the rainbow or 1,000x for six of the golden lucky number 7.

Medium and Small Wins

A handful of other payouts are also available. Six of a kind in the shamrocks, pots of gold or lucky blue horseshoes pay 800x, 600x and 400x, respectively. Along similar lines, you can get 300x or 200x for six of the mug or bar symbols. The A, K, Q and J symbols also pays 150x, 100x, 50x and 50x, respectively, for six of a kind. With so many different paying symbols and so many ways to win on the reels, this is definitely a high-paying game.

BetSoft has done an incredible job with Charms and Clovers by making it really stand out compared to all of the other Irish and leprechaun-themed online slots that are available in the industry overall. The sixth reel is integrated in a really cool way that adds to the experience instead of distracting from it, and this is the type of thing that we'd like to see more of from game developers in the industry who choose to go with atypical layouts. Generally speaking, BetSoft does a great job with all of their titles, but the gameplay in this particular slot makes us really want to recommend it to players with all types of different preferences.
