In the world of online slots, there are two main genres. There is the older genre that is based around the motifs of three-reel games, and there is the newer genre of five-reel video slots that make up the majority of the games that you'll find at any Internet casino in today's industry. GAMING1's Hot Fever game is a video slot that is based on a theme of a classic slot. This is a theme and motif that is used in a number of titles from other developers, and they are up against a bit of competition with this game. However, they've done a pretty good job with it, and the end result is a strong entry into the "relaxing gameplay style" arena.

Format and Layout

As a video slot, this game uses five reels. It also has three rows of symbols, and there is a total of five paylines. This is the fewest number of paylines a video slot can reasonably have, and it's based on the same visual motif of the five-reel classic slots. Betting in this game is simplified compared to the usual payline-based wagering, however. Instead of choosing coins and coin sizes to create line bet amounts, you're only concerned with the total amount that you're wagering on each spin. You can pick from a minimum wager of $0.20 per turn up to a maximum of $25 per turn in this game.

This style of choosing your bet sizes is something that GAMING1 uses in all of their titles, and it's something that definitely makes things easier on the player. The only thing you need to watch out for, however, is that all of the payouts are listed as a multiple of your total bet size. If you want to know what they would be if they were listed normally as line bet wins, then multiply the payout by five.

Scattered Star Symbols

Though it doesn't lead to the largest payouts in the game, the Star symbol gives more value than most of the symbols in the game, and that's largely because it works as a scatter symbol. This adds even more value than you might initially think because there are only five paylines in the game to begin with. Five of a kind of the star earns you a very solid 80x win, which would be like a 400x line bet wager, and that's on 20x for top of four of a kind. A win worth 2x is also yours for three of this symbol anywhere on the reels.

Important Payouts

The big, red, lucky seven is the highest-paying symbol in this slot. You'll earn a very solid 1,000x jackpot when you get five of them on an activated payline. Four of the lucky sevens gets the same payout as five of the grape or watermelon, which is 200x. Five of the plum, bell or pear pays out a 100x prize, and you can get 40x for five of the lemon, orange of cherry. The cherry is somewhat special in this game because it will pay out for just two of a kind or more. It's the only symbol in the game to do that, and getting two of the cherry will pay out 1x, which is the same as giving you that spin for free.

Overview

Hot Fever does not have a bonus feature. That will stand out as being fairly atypical on its own, but it's not unheard of. This is not due to laziness, however. Instead, all of the value for this game comes from the regular pay table, which is a component of gameplay that you find with may three-reel games. The symbol set is obviously based on three-reel games, but the gameplay itself is as well. The only thing that is decidedly video slot-like about this game, other than the format, is the inclusion of the scatter symbol. However, even then, there are many classic slots that use those as well.

In any event, this video slot will appeal to those who want to sit back and relax without having too much going on in the game. We recommend this for players who want a more simple experience, but it won't appeal to those who prefer a lot of bells and whistles.
