There's no shortage of games in the online slot world that fall into a handful of the most popular sub-genres for themes and concepts. However, the Fakir slot, available at GAMING1 casinos, has a theme you've probably not seen before. It centers around Middle Eastern dice games with a general Middle Eastern theme, and you'll see that there are lots of different dice with lots of ways to win on the reels. This definitely stands out in terms of the theme used, but the presentation is pretty solid as well, and it's a game that has some great features.

Format and Layout

The format of this game uses the "all ways" approach with a five-reel, three-row grid. This means there are 243 ways to win, and this happens by treating all of the regular symbols as left-to-right scatters. Get matching symbols on the reels starting from the left and working to the right, no matter which spots they land on, to get winning combinations.

Betting for this game starts at the $0.10 level. The maximum price per spin is $5, and you can choose from a variety of other levels in between. All of the wins that we will discuss are based on a multiple of this bet size as a whole.

Free Spins Bonus Feature

When you get at least three of the bonus symbol anywhere on the game board, you'll play a puck-dropping game. You can get instant wins, a multiplier for your free spins, the passing wild feature or a chance to win a big jackpot (as discussed below). During your free spins, you'll see the reels turn automatically without you having to do anything. All of your payouts during this mode will be multiplied by the given amount won during the puck-dropping game. On top of that, you have a chance to re-trigger the feature by getting three or more of the bonus symbols on the reels once again.

Super Games

Players who are familiar with older styles of slots will be familiar with the super game concept. The way it works here, you'll get a chance to play a super game whenever you win a payout worth 100x or more of your total bet. This can include a combination of several payouts on the same paid spin. The way this works is that you'll be taken to a wheel that gives you a solid instant win, the jackpot or an additional super game spin. It's an uncommon way to award extra value, and it adds yet another layer to the "gamification" involved inside of this particular slot.

Wild Symbols and Passing Wilds

The purple lotus is the wild symbol in this game. It doesn't get its own winning combination payouts, but it does help you to line up other combos you would have missed otherwise, which is especially valuable with the 243-ways format.

During the free spins mode, you can also access the passing wilds feature. The way this feature works is that up to two reels can be turned completely into wilds for each free turn at random. There's a tremendous amount of value in this for obvious reasons.

Important Wins and Payouts

The fakir symbol is green with a man sitting behind the die, and it gets 40x for five of a kind. You can earn half of that at 20x for five of his assistant in the blue. The black cobra die earns 10x, and you can pick up 5x for five of a kind of the orange flute die or the purple dagger die.

The win for the yellow six or orange five is 5x apiece as well. This drops down to 2.5x for the green four, blue three, purple two and teal one. All of these payouts are multiplied by your total bet, so the more you wager, the more you win.

Our Thoughts

The theme of the Fakir online slot is one of its main selling points because it's different than virtually anything else we've seen before. The graphics are solid, but not perfect, and most of the focus is on the gameplay. The free spins are determined by a puck-dropping game, and we can definitely say we haven't seen that before, and you can win a jackpot in that game as well, as listed in the jackpot display at the top-left corner of the screen. Overall, this is a solid title on the gameplay side, but it doesn't have a ton of depth with the features, and the graphics are so-so.
