Grand Casino Baden’s Online Offering Goes Live in Newly Regulated Swiss Market
Grand Casino Baden is the first gambling venue in Switzerland that will roll out a licensed online casino service after the new regulations took place early this year.
Their online brand jackpots.ch, formerly a play for a fun destination, is now live as a real money venue where players can access more than 50 different games, including various slot and roulette offerings.
Going Live in the Newly Regulated Swiss Market:
To recap, Switzerland has legalized online casinos and gambling last year after a referendum that passed with 73% of voters choosing to support the legislation that legalized online gambling for the first time.
Before this, online gambling was unregulated in Switzerland and it was estimated that over $253 million were spent each year by punters at foreign online casinos and betting sites.
While last year’s Act legalized online casinos it did so with an important caveat…
…only Swiss-certified casinos and companies are able to offer the service. Which means foreign-based casinos have been made illegal.
The legislation came into effect in January but wasn’t enforced until July. Now that foreign casinos are finally blocked, Swiss operators are hoping to fill the void and many different providers such as iSoftBet are angling for a piece of the pie.
The Swiss gaming market has seen a 3.4% year on year increase in land-based casinos driven primarily by slots. This is good news for those wishing to bring them online.
Partnering with Evolution Gaming:
Grand Casino Baden has become one of the four venues that were recently granted the license to operate online along with Casino Davos, Grand Casino Luzern, and Casino Zurichsee. The license is given by the Swiss Gambling Regulator Eidgenössische Spielbankenkommission.
In order to get ready for the launch Casino Baden has signed agreements with multiple game and platform providers.
One recent and important deal was with Evolution Gaming, one of the premier supplies of live casino table and poker games.
As a reminder, Evolution has recently released Side Bet City, the new and streamlined take on a poker room inspired by 1980s Las Vegas. This game, as well as many others, will become available for players in Switzerland through jackpots.ch.
Pleased to be Able to Start the Service:
Baden has also acquired a 50% stake in the platform provider Gamanza, on whose platform the jackpots.ch site runs.
“We have been working for around four years on the JackPots project and we are very pleased to be able to start the service,” the venue’s chief executive, Detlef Brose, said.
“The investment in Gamanza AG allows us to exert direct influence on product development and to act flexibly in the market in the future.”
