Market Analysis of Casino Games in European Countries
The spectrum of online casino games differs markedly across European nations, as only two titles are consistently found in the top 30 by brand coverage in each of the six evaluated markets: the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the Netherlands. According to data gathered by Blask on August 24, 2026, Play'n GO's 'Book of Dead' and 'Legacy of Dead' boast the widest presence.
It's important to note that brand coverage refers to the percentage of monitored operators featuring a specific title, which is not necessarily indicative of player demand or game popularity. The analysis considered 236 brands in the UK, 79 in Italy, 249 in Germany, 83 in Spain, 75 in France, and 82 in the Netherlands, distinguishing between locally licensed and international brands in regulated environments.
Play’n GO’s Strong Market Presence
The dominance of Play’n GO's offerings is evident, with Book of Dead achieving first place in the Netherlands at 49% coverage and featuring in the top 30 in other countries as well: 46% in the UK, 37% in Italy, 31% in Germany, 47% in Spain, and 23% in France.
Similarly, Legacy of Dead appeared across all surveyed markets, ranging from 19% coverage in France to 40% in the Netherlands, with 39% coverage in both the UK and Spain, 32% in Italy, and 29% in Germany.
Andrew Pink, the head of brand and communication at Play'n GO, attributed the wide reach of these titles to their established reputation with both players and operators. He stated, “Book of Dead and Legacy of Dead have earned their place through a combination of strong player recognition, proven long-term performance, and the trust we’ve built with operators over many years. While trends come and go, operators continue to value content with a demonstrated ability to engage players sustainably across regulated markets.” Pink also emphasized the importance of understanding coverage metrics in the context of each country’s regulatory framework, particularly noting that Play’n GO derives no revenue from France due to the absence of a regulated iGaming market.
Varied Top Games Across Regions
In contrast to the uniformity seen with Play'n GO titles, regional differences are evident in other top-ranking games.
Reel Kingdom's Big Bass Splash led the charts in the UK, Germany, and Spain, with coverages of 58.1%, 49%, and 73.5%, respectively—the latter being the highest recorded for any title's coverage in a single country. However, its rank shifted elsewhere, standing seventh in the Netherlands and tenth in Italy, while it did not make France's top 30.
Meanwhile, Italy's top game was Pragmatic Play’s Gates of Olympus Super Scatter, achieving 53.2% coverage, while France diverged significantly with Evolution’s Lightning Roulette in the lead at 34.7%.
Slots dominated the rankings with 148 out of 180 listed positions across the six countries, though not uniformly. Germany saw 29 slots in their top 30, followed by the Netherlands with 28, Italy with 27, the UK with 26, and Spain with 25. France markedly differed, with only 13 slots among its top tier, favoring live games, roulette, and crash games like 'Lightning Roulette', 'Aviator', and 'Baccarat'.
Pragmatic Play had a significant presence, appearing 60 times in the rankings across all regions, accounting for a third of all entries, while Play’n GO had 16 appearances, spanning every market surveyed.
