As the sequel to one of Realtime Gaming's most popular releases of all time, the Lucha Libre 2 slot brings back a whole lot of Mexican professional wrestling action. In this game, they've brought back a number of things that made the original popular and added to it with more features and new characters.

It's worth pointing out that the gameplay is all about the feature set, and while there is a decent enough value on the regular pay table, most of the big wins are going to come from doing well with some sort of feature that this title offers. As such, the volatility is at the upper end of the medium level, and there will be some swings when you play.

Layout and Format

The layout is set up to be simple so that players can concentrate on the game itself. There are 30 paylines spread across five reels with three horizontal rows of symbols. Betting has one coin on each payline at all times, and you should keep the number of lines at the maximum of 30 to keep your return to player percentage as high as it can go.

You can pick from coins that go from $0.01 at the lower end to a maximum of $0.25 each. As a result, the betting range is $0.30 to $7.50 per spin. You'll notice right away that the maximum bet size for this game per turn is actually very low, and that will definitely affect high rollers who would want to play this title for more money, but that's a minority of people.

Two Scatter Symbols

The Mucho Mayhem scatter symbol gives some reasonable payouts with 250x for five of a kind, 10x for four of a kind and 2x for three of a kind. They pay no matter where they are located on the reels.

The fist symbol is another scatter, but only during the Fist of Fury feature, which we'll look at below. This symbol gives you 25x for five, 5x for four, 2x for three and 1x for just two of a kind.

Grouped Wild Symbols

Wrestlers show up on the middle reel as grouped wilds. When you fill the reel with them, they will give a multiplier of 2x, 3x or 10x. They count for everything but the scatters noted above, and they can jump over to other reels to give even more wins when they cover the middle reel as well.

Time to Rumble Bonus Feature

When you get at least three of the Mucho Mayhem scatters, you'll activate the Time to Rumble feature. You'll pick from three wrestling moves to try to win the match: The El Loco Low Blow, the El Slappa De Papa and the Supremo Falcon Hail. You'll win free spins with multipliers or Fist of Fury spins just depending on which move you choose and whether you hit it or not.

In the Fist of Fury spins, you'll have up to four reels held full of scattered fist symbols while the other reels spin. You can also activate these randomly after regular free spins, so there's clearly quite a bit of value to be had here.

Winning Combinations and Payouts

The belt, the trophy and the referee all have the same top payout of 500x for five, and they also all pay out for just two of a kind. Aside from the fist symbol, they are the only symbols to do so.

You can score 200x for five of the fan holding a flag, and the trading cards get players 125x. The same 125x win can be had for five of the marquee poster, and it drops down to 7x for five of the bottle of hot sauce, the beer, the wrestling doll or the green pepper.

In Summary

Some people like sequels, and some people don't. All we know is that if you loved the original, then you're going to really love Lucha Libre 2. Realtime Gaming did a solid job of bringing back one of their most iconic titles in a way that captures the first installment in this lucha libre professional wrestling series without feeling like it's just a copy of it.

This game has a somewhat high volatility, but there have been measures taken to keep the hit-rate up a bit. A number of top symbols using wins for two of a kind is a good example, but the multiple scatter symbols also helps along those lines.
