The AGames-powered GoldSea online slot is based around a deep sea diving adventure. There are lots of stories and popular novels about this type of diving for treasure, and it all comes to a head here in this game.

The presentation here is pretty strong with symbols that were created with a fair amount of detail. The soundtrack is pretty reasonable for an online slot as well, but it's the gameplay that shines in particular. This slot is based primarily around a set of features that bring a lot of value, but the volatility doesn't get exceptionally high, which makes it smooth sailing for most players.

Game Layout

The layout uses a somewhat atypical approach. There are five reels and three horizontal rows of symbols, which is normal enough, but there are 21 static paylines, which is a fairly unusual number. This leads to some pretty atypical bet sizes as well, and it starts at the $0.21 level with $0.01 coins on each of the lines. The coins themselves go up to the $1 level, and you can bet up to 10 of them on each payline. The end result is a betting range that extends up to $210 per spin, leaving plenty of room for lots of options between the minimum and maximum wagers.

Anchor and Octopus Symbols

Two of the most important symbols in this game are the anchor and octopus symbols. The anchor is a wild, and it helps you to get winning combinations with any symbols in the entire slot other than the octopus.

The octopus, however, is a scattered bonus symbol. Your payouts are based on three times the number of these symbols that you get on the screen at once, but you have to pick up at least three at a time for a win. Three or more also trigger the Sunken Ship Bonus that we'll look at next.

Sunken Ship Bonus Feature

You're taken to an underwater scene with a sunken ship in this mode, and there are a variety of holes in the side of the ship where you can try to dive in to get treasure. However, there is a huge octopus around, and he might reach out through the holes and get you. The idea here is to try to pick out which of the holes will give you the most treasure without getting caught by the octopus. It's an exciting feature that ends when you find a tentacle instead of treasure, and you can win up to 25 times your total bet size in this bonus round.

Diver Symbols and Free Spins

Three or more of the stacked diver symbols give you a set of 15 free spins. These free turns are worth more than their normal counterparts because they're subject to a 2x multiplier on all of your wins. On top of that, you'll get a treasure chest on the reels during the free spins mode only that helps you out as well. You'll get three extra free spins and dive even deeper for each one of these that appears. Your multiplier increases the deeper you go, and that can go up to a maximum of 7x.

Winning Payouts and Prizes

The starfish symbol gives you a strong 1,200x win for five of a kind. You can also score 400x or 200x for five of the crab or puffer fish symbols, respectively. The shell symbol gets you 100x for five as well.

The four card rank symbols are blue with water in the background and perfectly fit the deep sea diving theme. The A and K symbols are worth 50x and 35x, respectively, for five of a kind. Five of the Q is worth 25x, and you can pick up 10x for five of a kind of the J symbol.

Overview

We like the layers of features that you get from the GoldSea online slot by AGames. They've really done a great job with giving players an exciting style of play along these lines. The pay table is somewhat top-heavy, but not so much that it kicks the volatility up into the particularly high levels. Instead, it adds the excitement of having chances to win some pretty big payouts on any given spin, and that's on top of the multipliers worth up to 7x found in the free spins bonus round.

If you don't mind the somewhat generic theme and the atypical 21 paylines, then this is a game that will appeal to a wide range of players.
